If Lost Soul Music was a potential packed roughing up then Southern Lights is the TKO punch.
Rightfully picking up the Tui’s for Best Engineer and Best Producer at the 2005 NZ Music Awards, they simply don’t make medals big enough to reward the songwriting superbosity and all round undeniable bleeding brilliance of this album, that has left flabbers gasted all over the show.
Undoubtedly, Sean James Donnelly is one of New Zealand’s most talented acts and his latest, like his last, is worth getting excited about.
5/5 stars Chris Long, Rip It Up
My cynicism crumples before this superb album. It’s the best local release I’ve heard since 2002, when Donnelly put his last record out.
